Sheet Z-00 / Title and signatures

Brad and Shari Zenner, signing every set since 2001.

Z Construction is a family owned and operated residential builder at 1434 Ridge Rd in Highland Park. It is licensed, insured and bonded, and it builds houses and rooms for people on Chicago’s North Shore. Nothing commercial, nothing outside the home.

The work runs from a small bathroom remodel to the construction of multiple homes at once, with the same personalised service on both. More than 500 projects have gone through the office since the firm began, and the team’s combined experience in construction adds up to more than 100 years.

Their own line for it: “You can trust us to assist in all your building needs.” The quality of the work comes first, and the aim is a finished house that goes past what you expected. Read what clients wrote or see the scopes of work.

  1. Step 01

A walk through the house, before any drawing

The first meeting is a free consultation. Brad and Shari look at the house and listen to what you want it to become, whether that is a small bathroom or a whole new house. Estimates are free, and nothing gets priced before they have seen the work.

  2. Step 02

Drawings, permits and the schedule, from one office

On new homes and additions the process is turnkey: engineering drawings, securing permits, every trade, and the final finishing touches. One firm answers for all of it, so you deal with the same two people from the first meeting to move-in.

  3. Step 03

    Selections with Shari

Shari works through selections with clients. Aimee S. says she went along to the stores and connected them with key suppliers, and told them where to spend more (cabinets) and where to save (sinks). Lori F. calls the interior design consulting “spot on.”

  4. Step 04

Build, clean up, and stay reachable

Clients describe a job site cleaned up daily, a house they could move into as scheduled, and a builder who came back months later to fix small problems. Karen S. still calls twelve years on, and says the firm is willing to help.
